Kings and Simpletons

“As the kings of the earth and the mighty of the earth are born in exactly the same way, physically, as the simplest man, so the most intellectual person must become a Christian in exactly the same way as the simplest person. This is true for all men everywhere, through all space and time. There are no exceptions. Jesus said a totally exclusive word: ‘No man cometh unto the Father, but by me'” (John 14:6).

  1. Jonah says:

Jesus message is so simple. He’s so very direct, cutting matters down to their very core. The Pharisees asked for a sign and the Greeks demanded philosophy. But Jesus was the sign to the Pharisees and they ignored Him. And the wisdom of God was as foolishness to the wise. He was and is the only way to the Father. Everything else is subject to that. Jesus had an amazing knack for totally leveling the playing field. Great quote.

    Jonah,

It is great to have you on the blog! Thank you for your comments.

I am reminded of the words of Luke in Acts where he states:

4:12- “There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.”

This seems pretty clear to me!

Clint, look closely at the word “thought” in your post. I thought you could spell!

Just kidding, I missspell about ever fourth word in my blags.

Oh, as to the content of the post. Schaeffer hits it on the head in such a way that academic or financial elitism melts into a blob of wishful thinking before the cross, where all come as guilty criminals in need of cleansing.

It is this reliance upon the Holy Spirit and the Word of God that makes Schaeffer such an appealing apologist. Though he is dead, he still speaks.
